Neo-Renaissance architecture is an eclectic collection of 19th century architectural designs that were neither Greek Orthodox nor Italian Renaissance but rather drew inspiration from a variety of influential modernizing European models. While many modern architects and designers claim credit for the neo Renaissance style of architecture, it is Antonio Gaudi who deserves the most praise. His design expertise included everything from innovative roofing materials to the use of colored glasses. However, he did incorporate a number of the characteristics of both Greek and Italian Renaissance styles into his Neo-Renaissance architectural plans. This is an important characteristic of the neoRenaic architecture language, which we will discuss below. In the next section, we will explore in greater detail the relationship between this language and Neo-Renaic architecture.
Neo-Renaic architecture has been said to be influenced by the styles of the ancient Greece, Egypt, Rome, and Italy and also by the French architecture of the period known as the Regency Period. Neo-Renaic architecture is also said to be influenced by works of Vitruvian masterpieces like the Catacombs of Kom es-Shouqafa and the Arch of Titus. The style was also shaped by the works of Benvenuto da Vinci. A little closer to the archetype, the Neocatechoric Temple in Sofia may have been inspired by the colossal Catacombs of Rome. It’s not a surprise that a lot of the styles and concepts of Neo-Renaic architecture bear strong connections to classical Roman and Greek architectural designs.
Neo-Renaic architecture is similar to many other styles, and since it blends and alters form it is considered to be late to the scene. There are columns with sloping roofs, rounded and sloping forms in architecture. These features are used to emphasize the verticality of the building.
It is easy to see in the works of Vitruvius that many of the buildings of early Rome, such as the forum, had double-tiered roofing. This kind of roof design was also prevalent in ancient Egypt. In some cases the roofs of these structures were constructed from different kinds of materials which gave them the appearance of various structures. Neo-Renaic architecture resembles this form of architecture. Neo-Renaissance elements include courtyards, stairways, stages or colonnades, as do the use domes (or sun-dial temples). architecture The architecture is characterized by rounded forms and unique roof designs.
Geometric form is also employed in Neo-Renaic architecture. It has been suggested for instance, that a structure such as the Vitruvian temple might have been constructed in an egg shape. It has also been suggested that Neoplantus is a model of the designs of the Menghi-Jihi complex in China. Neoplantus is one example. It has an onion dome as its principal design.
Neo-Renaic architecture also has another intriguing characteristic. Contrary to other forms of architecture, Neo-Renaic architecture actually makes use of what is called “The Book of Forms.” It is generally believed that the Book of Forms exists in Sanskrit as well, and this is the case with this type of architecture. However, the design of this book does not look like anything found in the sacred texts of India. It is believed that the Romans used the Book of Forms to design their architectural style. However, some scholars suggest that this form of architecture was actually in some way influenced by Hindu temples.
Neo-Renaic architecture employs designs that are distinct from Western architectural styles. This is why when looking at Neo-Renaic architecture, one might mistake it for a Christian church or temple. In many instances, the architecture is so bizarre that it could be mistaken for a pulp cartoon building. The forms are also arranged in a variety of unusual ways. For example, the head of a pinball machine might be placed on top of the table, or the cake in a rectangular shape could be placed on the top of the head.
This type of architecture resembles Post-Renaic architecture in the way that the forms are arranged. But the difference is that the order and arrangement are different. Neo-Renaic architecture uses abstract forms to create a completely unique design. It is distinct from other architectural designs and attracts attention from everyone who sees it.
